NJLHS Lighthouse Preservation Projects

The New Jersey Lighthouse Society is dedicated to the preservation of lighthouses in New Jersey and throughout the world. We have assisted many lighthouses in this effort. Scroll down to see examples of some projects NJLHS has been involved in.

Cape St. George Lighthouse

On Friday, October 2, 2005 the Cape St. George Lighthouse collapsed into the Gulf of Mexico. On Monday, December 1, 2008 the reconstructed lighthouse was opened to the public. The New Jersey Lighthouse Society was proud to be one of the contributors to the reconstruction!

Tinicum Rear Range Light

Tinicum Rear Range Light was in need of new steps leading to the tower. They came to the New Jersey Lighthouse Society for assistance. We were happy to help them complete this project with donations from the NJLHS memorial fund in the name of member Carol Ann Cook.

Florida Keys Reef Lights Foundation

Alligator Reef
Carysfort Reef

The NJLHS Preservation Fund was able to make a donation to the FKRLF to help with their quest to take over some of the reef lights for the purpose of opening them to the public.

Cleaning Lighthouse Fresnel Lenses in New Jersey

NJLHS Volunteers (“Wandering Wickies”) were able to clean two Fresnel lenses that are on display. One was at the Barnegat Light Museum and the other was a the Cape May County Museum. Pictures below are from the Cape May County Museum.
